Fans of McDonald's will be shocked to learn this. One of McDonald's most well-known menu items, the Big Mac, was much bigger decades ago than it is today. When the Big Mac initially came out, it was made up of two pieces of "quarter meat."

Before cooking, each piece weighed a quarter of a pound. These days, two 1.6-ounce portions, or 10-1 beef, are used to make the Big Mac. The Big Mac continues to be incredibly popular; 550 million of them are sold annually in America, despite the size modification.
